Who is Supply Management

Management of inbound inventory including RFQ, placement of PO contract management. Supply Management plays a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of initiatives to improve rolling stock availability and reliability; as well as the timeous execution of overhauls and new build wagons.

Supply Management's objectives:

  • Meeting stringent purchasing support requirements to ensure the availability of critical items
  • Ensuring that 80% of material items are on contract and especially that all strategic commodities are placed on contract, whilst optimising costs, ensuring flexibility and reducing cycle time.
  • Establishing relationships with suppliers, so that there is a good visibility of inbound inventory, enabling minimised stock levels and reduction in net working capital.
  • Realising optimum value from strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure that Supply Management engages with Operations to achieve savings through demand management activities, dovetailing neatly into the Lean Projects that all businesses have embarked on.
